Assistant Instructor
Sensei Ashley Nunes, a mechanical engineer and working as Project Manager in multinational Energy company started karate in 2016 at age of 39.
Karate was always his interest from young, but didn’t get much exposure as opportunities were less and not affordable at the time.
However, in 2016 when his daughter Amber Nunes reached the age of 5, he wanted her to get into self-defense training in form of karate where she was reluctant. So they both agreed to start karate and joined with Sensei Vijeesh M, 4th Dan TOGKF, in Dubai, UAE. Under Sensei Vijeesh, Ashley achieved his 1st Kyu (Brown) and Amber achieved 4th Kyu (purple).
In 2020 they had relocated to UK during covid. They continued their training with online classes in 2021, but found this wasn’t as effective.
Sensei Ashley and daughter Amber found Karate Academy UK in 2022 and joined with Sensei Aamar in the Slough dojo. There has been no looking back for father and daughter duo since then. Sensei Ashley was graded to 1st Dan in September 2023 at the age of 46.
Sensei Ashley has had the opportunity to attend various seminars in London training with Sensei George Andrews (8th Dan)
Sensei Ashley still trains every week to keep fit and healthy. The training also acts as stress buster, venting out emotions after hectic work schedule.
